Winnipeg, MB – Continuing to keep music alive among today’s youth, MusiCounts is proud to announce that the 2014 JUNO Piano, autographed by JUNO Award nominees and winners including Randy Bachman, Sarah McLachlan, Serena Ryder, Johnny Reid, Tegan and Sara and others has been auctioned and purchased by TD. As a valued sponsor of MusiCounts, TD is generously donating the Baldwin piano to Winnipeg’s Status4, a non-profit community organization that provides music and media programs that support the importance of music and arts for young people.
“Thanks to the generosity of TD and Baldwin Pianos, we are thrilled that the JUNO Piano will remain in Winnipeg as a lasting legacy of the JUNO Awards with Status4,” says Allan Reid, Director of MusiCounts. “Kevin Gibson has built an incredible music program at Status4 and we hope it serves as inspiration to all the young people who will have the opportunity to perform on it.”
As a recent recipient of a MusiCounts TD Community Music Grant last year, Status4 was selected by TD to receive the piano to help further advance the community program.
“TD has been working with MusiCounts providing young people with the opportunity to be further exposed to music and to have access to music education,” says Alan Convery, Senior Manager, Community Relations, TD Bank Group. “We are thrilled to see the impact that they have made with groups like Status4, as this local organization has truly made a difference to underserved youth in Winnipeg and beyond their local community.”
Last year, MusiCounts with the support from TD, was able to bring the TD Community Music Grant program to life, expanding opportunities for underserved youth across Canada. The MusiCounts TD Community Music Grants program provides musical instruments and equipment to drop-in centres, after-school programs and other community non-profit organizations, ultimately putting instruments into the hands of youth that need it most.
“Status4 is a Winnipeg charitable organization providing music and arts education to underserved youth. We are grateful for the tremendous support of MusiCounts and TD”, says Kevin Gibson, Founder, President & CEO of Status4. “We are so honored to receive the prestigious 2014 JUNO Piano where it will continue making music and inspiring young people to follow their dreams. “
